About Avalore

Hello, we're Avalore.

We're a tight-knit creative agency in Denver, and we propel organizations forward with award-winning work.

Since 2015

About our agency.

An owner-operated, full-service creative agency for government agencies and private companies across the country.

Stories built to connect.

Storytelling sits at the core of Avalore. Since 2015, we've worked as an owner-operated, full-service creative agency with one simple belief: every brand has a story worth telling. Whether we're guiding government agencies through complex messaging or helping private companies reshape their image, we help clients across industries nationwide own and tell their stories.

Our approach is practical and comprehensive. We offer a full suite of services, from website design and video production to graphic design and animation.

Design and storytelling are at the heart of what we do. For us, storytelling isn't a buzzword. It's the spotlight guiding you toward success.

Our creative core.

We're a tight-knit mix of artists, researchers, writers, designers and developers. Together, we build strong brands for organizations in every industry.

We don't settle for good enough. Clients rely on us for expert guidance through digital shifts. We don't stop at setting strategies or checking boxes. We keep refining and rethinking how we work so each project improves on the last.

Some companies do what you ask. We think, challenge and create on your behalf, and we spot the next step before you have to tell us. In a nutshell, this is Avalore.

Our track record speaks for itself. We deliver on time and within budget.

Our mission

Pound for pound, the best creative agency in the country.

We aren't the largest creative team, and we don't want to be.

We like being a nimble, tight-knit team, and we punch well above our weight class. We're problem solvers, experts and creative architects. And we love what we do.

What drives us

Our values.

Three values behind every project we take on.
  • Purpose driven

We deliver because we love the work. The grind. The gauntlet of a creative field where nothing stands still. Tomorrow won't look like today, and every day brings new challenges. In our business, you're either pushing forward or falling behind. We push forward.

  • Devoted

We care about our team. We care about our clients. We care about our work. And we care about the viewers, users and followers who see it. Call it passion, commitment or dedication. You'll see it in everything we do.

  • Nimble

We roll with the punches. Plans change in the blink of an eye, and our team never gets caught flat-footed. We move fast and adapt to the world around us.

Our beginnings

From one documentary to a full agency.

It started in 2014 with a documentary about the physicians of the Grand Valley.
  • The Avalore founders in college, laughing outdoors with a mentor
  • The Avalore founders at graduation in caps and gowns
  • A mentor from the early days raising a coffee cup at his desk

Dr. Patrick Page and Professor Regis Tucci were itching to tell a story. They wanted to document the lives of the early physicians of the Grand Valley while they still had the chance. To tell the story right, they needed a team. In the spring of 2014, Tucci asked Brenden Huey and Kayla Prentner to take on the project. Together, we built a plan to film these fading histories.

Within weeks, we were recording our first interviews. In the winter of 2015, our exuberant, mustachioed friend and mentor Regis Tucci passed away suddenly. We had to decide whether to keep going or let the project rest with our friend. We pushed on.

By October 2015, we finished The Secret Sauce, a documentary on the history of Grand Junction's nationally recognized health care system. Along the way, we became an LLC and, in honor of our southwest roots, named ourselves Kokopelli Pictures.

We worked with Colorado Mesa University's Maverick Innovation Center, an entrepreneurial center built to help students launch their ideas. The center pushed Kokopelli Pictures to the next level, and we became the first registered company to go through its accelerator program.

After Kayla and Brenden graduated from CMU, Kokopelli Pictures started picking up work from clients in the manufacturing industry. Our new clients needed more than video, so we expanded into print and digital marketing, website design and development, and brand strategy.

National recognition

Awards for the work.

Six platinum-level and best-of honors for websites, video, writing and trade show design.
  • Colorado Sun

Colorado Sun Best Website Development, Denver Metro

The Colorado Sun, an independent, award-winning news outlet based in Denver, ran a statewide “Best Of” survey and invited Coloradans to vote for their favorite businesses in every industry. Voters named us the Best Website Development company in the Denver Metro region, and we’re grateful for every vote.

  • VIDDY

VIDDY Platinum, “There’s Only One Alaska” for NRCS Alaska

USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service Alaska needed a recruitment video to show how incredible the state is and draw interest from future employees. Our team traveled to the Great North to capture footage and interviews for people looking for adventure.

The video passed 2,000 views in its first two months.

  • dotCOMM

    dotCOMM Platinum, Pelsue SATCOM website

Pelsue, an established company in industrial safety and communication solutions, needed a website to improve the customer experience and make product searches faster. We redesigned the site around clear navigation and direct links to its service areas: Industrial Safety, SATCOM Solutions and Fiber Splicing.

  • Marcom

Marcom Platinum, “Giving Back to the Soil” for NRCS Montana

We teamed up with USDA NRCS Montana to travel across the state and meet producers and private landowners. The goal: share their success stories in articles for decision-makers in Washington, D.C.

In Hill County, we met Shawn Preputin, Larry Johnson and Alec McIntosh, three farmers experimenting with composting to find better ways to feed their crops. “Giving Back to the Soil” tells how the conservation-minded trio is making soil health more attainable with help and guidance from NRCS, and it inspires other producers to consider composting.

  • AVA Digital

AVA Digital Platinum, Living Root Farm video

USDA NRCS Montana wanted to reach more producers and show them the benefits of conservation practices and NRCS programs. We traveled to Montana to meet farmers, ranchers and forestry landowners.

At Living Root Farm, the Van Order family told us how they share their produce and their knowledge of urban farming with their small community. “Conservation for the Future: Nurturing Neighbors at Living Root Farm” follows the different path they’re taking in Big Horn County with help from NRCS.

  • Marcom

Marcom Platinum, Pelsue trade show booth

Pelsue was back on the trade show circuit to reconnect with clients and wanted a booth with great looks and a functional layout. Working together, we designed a fresh, informative and welcoming booth to promote networking, generate leads and build on the well-established Pelsue brand. The client and their customers have received it well.

Testimonials

In our clients' words.

  • Having worked in the digital realm my entire adult life I can say that without a doubt Avalore is on a mission to change the agency landscape. Their approach involves something that seems so simplistic but is lost by most agencies I've worked with. Avalore listens and tunes into the business they're working for. They take a long term holistic approach based on the full picture of the business, and not a few metrics they can use to make themselves look good. When they say they're going to deliver, they DELIVER. The quality of the product, communication, and long-term results never fail to exceed our expectations.

  • Right from our initial exploratory call with Avalore, they displayed an eagerness to understand our organization, what our needs were with the publication, and how we preferred to work. We appreciated the creativity they brought to the design process, which included giving us several design options based on our original input. The Avalore team was always timely and efficient and helped solve problems in the design process rather than give excuses. The work was completed on time and within budget. In short, the Avalore team is professional and collegial, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with them on future projects.

  • With our agency, we work with all kinds of producers – different genders, ages, cultures, backgrounds, experience levels and even some where English is not their first language. Avalore handled it all very well. They showed up to each site and shoot day with a plan and helped articulate that plan to the landowner – drone shots, B roll, interviews, etc. Every. Single. Person. That Avalore interviewed said they were so easy to work with!

  • Avalore is always innovative. They are continuously brainstorming how they can help us do things better, which sometimes you don't get a lot of. They give us a lot of insight on just what's going on, even before I ask. They're very on top of the data and what should be tweaked to make things better. If a strategy is not working, then they try to figure out something better. They've been great to work with over the years.
